School Supplies Wanted!

The 2007-08 school year has begun, and that means it is once again time for KIDS CLUB!  Donations of supplies for Kids Club are always appreciated, so if you stroll through the back-to-school sales and want to help out, here are some suggested items:

	Markers (all colors)
	Pencils (both regular and colored)
	Erasers
	Paper (plain and colored)
	Glue sticks
	Masking tape
	Scissors (both child and adult sizes)
	Pocket folders
	Juice packs
	After school snacks

 

Purpose

The Mackinaw United Methodist Kids Club is a mission project of the Mackinaw United Methodist Church in Mackinaw.  The Club was established in 2000 to provide after school child care for the benefit of children, parents, and the community.  We provide after school care for school age children, Kindergarten through 6th grade.  Our hours are from school dismissal to 6:00 pm, on days when school is in session.  The Kids Club is licensed through the Department of Child and Family Services. 

We believe that each child is a child of God and should have every opportunity to develop physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially and spiritually to the fullest potential.  We are called to ministry, caring for children, showing concern for families and providing support and nurturing for our own families in the congregation and the surrounding community.  This program is one way for our church to live out the message of God's love, expressed through Jesus Christ.

At MUMC Kids Club, our ultimate goal is to provide a secure after school program that services the children, their parents, and the community in which they live.  Our program will provide each child with many new experiences, the opportunity to develop self-confidence, and explore the joy of learning.  We will encourage and assist all children to complete homework and participate in structured activities.

Fees

Fees are payable on a weekly basis and are collected at least one week in advance.  The fees for Kids Club are based on weekly attendance.

Base rate, per child:	$ 8.00	$ 40.00
Discounted rate for each additional child in same family:	$ 6.00	$ 30.00
Part-time rate:	$ 10.00	Min. $ 30.00 *

(*NOTE:  Attendance of 3 days per week minimum required for part-time enrollment)

 

Registration

A $10 non-refundable registration fee is required annually for each child enrolled in the Club, with a $20 limit per family.  The registration is required at initial enrollment confirmation.  You may contact the Director of Kids Club, Jodi Trombini, at (309) 359-KIDS to receive more information about Kids Club or to enroll your child.

Latest News     (Updated 12/09/2007) 

Our year of Kids Club is really going by fast!  We only have 13 days of school this month!  It doesn't seem like it's true, but our Christmas and New Year break begin on December 20th.  The kids get out of school at 1:30 P.M. on the 19th.  We'll have a fun afternoon of Christmas activities.  I'm sure the kids will be ready to have some fun in anticipation of the days to come.

We will celebrate two December birthdays in Kids Club.  Sam V. and myself each have a birthday this month.  Since we aren't in Kids Club on our birthdays, we can celebrate any day!  Our whole month is a party!

Please be sure to visit the north hallway and our rooms to see some of our crafts and art projects.  I really try to have the kids show what we do every afternoon and they like to see their work, too!  We also craft and create what surrounds the bulletin board at the church's front entrance.  The kids are getting better and better at creating just about anything I can dream up!  Come and see for yourself!

I must mention that we celebrated Jenny R's birthday in November.  I didn't mention her birthday last month.  My apologies, Jenny!  The giant cookie cake was all eaten and enjoyed by everyone!  Ask her about the 3 day turkey project we all did last month.  It was a very time consuming craft, but the turkeys were truly amazing.  I know the kids will never forget making them!
