Pastor Jack joined the MUMC family in August, 2004, transferring from the First United Methodist Church in Benton, Illinois where he served for six years. He has also served United Methodist Churches in Sesser, Anna, Ramsey, Bunker Hill, and Glendale, Illinois. His goal as a person and minister is to know Christ and to make Him known. Prayer is a big part of his life. He feels his spiritual gifts are teaching and preaching and that his strengths include counseling and visiting. He is also a Christian painting enthusiast. Pastor Jack grew up near Wichita, Kansas on a wheat farm. He majored in secondary education at Kansas State University and was active in Campus Crusade for Christ. After graduating, he was a math and physics teacher. He then went to Asbury Theological Seminary and was active in World Global Mission Ministry where he met his wife Bunny. They both spent time as missionaries: Pastor Jack in Bolivia, South America and Bunny in Burundi, Africa.
Bunny grew up in southern Illinois and majored in English at Southern Illinois University. She has taught junior high, high school, and adult education. Bunny currently works at the Conference in Springfield as a Director of Missions and Outreach. She is involved with several programs, including elder homes, children homes, disaster relief, and children in poverty. She was recently involved with the Conference initiative that raised over 700,000 calling card minutes for soldiers in the Armed Services. Pastor Jack and Bunny have two sons, Mathew 27 and Aaron 18. Mathew graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University and currently lives in Seattle, Washington where his wife is attending graduate school. His interests include praise music, drama, and writing songs. Aaron just completed high school and is attending college.
